Questions 72 K5 Roll Bar
I have located roll bar that came out of 72 K5. The back braces are bolted to the main bar. Just wondering if original roll bars were bolted or welded at connecting points.
Also my Blazer did not come equipped with roll bar. Not sure how to install. Do the base plates just bolt to the floor? Do the bolts go through the rocker boxes? I don't have a clue. Any help would be appreciated. ...Dan |

I don't think the roll bars bolt through to the rocker boxes, I believe the are attached at the very front of the bed floor and at the wheel wells. I'm sure somebody here can answer your question better than I have, but you can always check out Colorado K5 for info on blazers. I have a blazer, but no roll bar and would love to find one around here. Good luck!

ALL THE OEM ROLL BARS I'VE SEEN ARE WELDED & NOT BOLTED TOGETHER .(I HAVE TWO K5 BLAZERS , A 71 & A 72) THEY'RE BOLTED TO THE FLOOR PAN (CARGO AREA) & NOT THRU THE ROCKER BOXES & BOLTED TO THE WHEEL WELL TUBS. THESE ARE GREAT TRUCKS - I LOVE EM

The smittybuilt bar rear arms are bolted to the main hoop and continue to BEHIND the wheel wells. The fronts bolt to the bed floor, access underneath. They are backed up with washers. In the front on the cage conversion, the feet are bolted to the floor and you must cut access panels in the rocker boxes.

Thanks for the response.
Appears to be a lot of work, but I really want a soft top. ...Dan |
