New Guy Here!
i recently got a 67 c20. the truck has a bad '74 350 in it with the granny gear 4 speed. im gonna rebuild the 350 but i may want to put a overdrive auto behind it, 700r4 or 200r4, because of the low rear gear. im sure many guys here have done this swap. i would like to know what all is needed, ie crossmember, driveshaft, etc. it will be mostly a tow rig for my drag car but i want to make it a fairly nice truck to drive. anyway, i just found this site last night and been on it all day lookin around. ill try to get pics of my truck as soon as i can. its not pretty but fairly solid(for this area anyway). thanks for any info you can give me and im glad i found this great site. looks awesome!

Welcome from Northern California!! I put in a 700R4 in my C-20. It literally bolted right up with no dilling and no mods to the cross-member. Got a lot of my info from www.700r4.com . Onlything that was not bolt-in was the drive shaft. I had that shortened/balance with new u-joints and carrier bearing pressed on for under $200 at a local driveline shop.
