best place to mount fuel regulator??
i think i'm gonna try to get a fuel pressure regulator for christmas, it should help with my engine running very very rich at idle.
i think the one i want is the Aeromotive standard regulator.(jegs part# 027-13201) it has -06AN ports and is adjustable from 5-12psi and has a gauge port on it too. the carb i have is the 650cfm edelbrock avs. i'm using the dual feed line with billet fuel filter with all -06an fittings. what will be the best place to mount the regulator. the way the carb feed line is, it goes along the pass. side of the carb and stops at the heater hose fitting in the intake. thats where i have the braided line ran down to the fuel pump. the pump is a 110gph holley mech. fuel pump. would i have a problem mouting the regulator right after the fuel pump?? |

shouldn't be any problems mounting the regulator after the fuel pump, as that's the only place there is pressure to regulate.

i have a 3/8" to -06an adapter fitting in my fuel pump. would it be okay to mount the regulator directly to that fitting? |

i dont see why it wouldnt, pressure should be equal throughout the hose. doesnt matter if you regulate it at the beginning or right at the carb, its all gonna get regulated anyways.

I mounted my regulators on the passenger fender, but what you want to do will work fine also.

i mounted mine on the intake manifold, right beside the throttle linkages on the carb, easy way to adjust the presure, might be a little difficult do so down on the fuel pump.

Did you guys really notice if it helped on the rich idle problem like originally stated in this forum? Some of that richness comes from how your carb is set up due to a more than normal cam profile. Mine started when I adjusted the carb to maintain a generally good idle but took the throttle plates out of the idles circuit and put it into the transition slot for acceleration. I haven't tried the fuel pressure regulator, yet. I have not had an issue with overgassing the carb, that I can tell.
