It Only Took 6 Years!
In 1998 my son told me he wanted my 87 Silverado, when he turned 16.
April of 99 - Replaced 5.7 & 700R4 with GM crate parts, along with radiator, all the sensors, modules, and injectors. He drove it 30 days decided he liked my 95 GMC better! So I started ordering parts. June of 2000 - Completely rebuilt front end. Replaced coil springs, upper & lower ball joints, inner & outer tie rods, A frame bushings, idler arm & pitman arm. October of 2002 - New paint job Apple Red (72) & Midnight Black (19) Removed hood, bed, cowl panel, and all glass, mouldings, door handles,bumpers,etc.etc. THEN THE FUN STARTED !! All the parts I had been ordering since 1999 went on. Ft. bumper, grille & bowtie, upper & lower grillemoldings, left & right grille moldings, headlight bezels, hood ornament, hood to cowl seal, marker lights,Silverado emblems, wheel opening moldings, all new rubber window & door gaskets, door handles, door lock cylinders, parklights, tailights, tailgate stainless trim,Chevrolet emblem, fuel injection emblem,2 drip rails, door edge guards, plastic cowl screen, air dam(under ft. bumper)all new side molding GM, and Vermillion & Black pin stripe kit (gm) New centercaps, lug nuts, Had Aluminum wheels stripped, polished and recleared. June of 2004 - Started on Interior. Replaced Headliner, Dashpad, Power window motors, door lock actuators & switches,Arm rests, pull straps & covers, stainless door panel inserts, door pockets, lower door carpet panels,Instrument cluster bezel, turn signal w/cruise,4 a/c vents, dual tank switch, dash insert w/silverado emblem, rearview mirror, interior light, radio knobs, door sill plates, sunvisors, carpet. November 19, 2004 - Got it out of the upholstery shop, Seat cover replaced !!! NOW I AM THROUGH !!! Now the Daily Driver will only be driven on sunny days! |

I thought about selling my 85 for a late model chevy, but I love my truck too much I think. I drive mine daily and having a late model would be nicer to drive everyday while still maintaining the ability to haul stuff.
