I6 vs V8 4x4 engine crossmember ???
Does anyone know if a I6 4x4 engine crossmember is the same as a V8 4x4 crossmember. The truck currently has a 292 I6 in it and I want to put in a 350 V8. Can I just move the crossmember to the V8 location or do I have to get a different crossmember ?? ( It's a 1970 )

I don't know but here are a couple pics of my small block V8 crossmember in my 69 K20. Hope they help you.

Gary, that 292 xmember is definately different. I have a v8 unit if you need it...as partial trade?
I should add it is differtent because of the offset mounts used on the 292. If you look at it you'll see the rh side mount is forward of the lh side mount. Isn't it funny I plan on deepsixing (pun intended) my 350 for a 292 in my 4x4

Crossmember
Jeff
Sure we can work out a partial trade. Hey I found the original papper work from fisher in the glove box, it shows an illustration of the pump bracket & pulleys but not installed. Down the road, when I take the 292 out would you be interested in it ??? Gary Thanks Yukon, but it sounds like Jeff knows for sure. Last edited by CUSTOM/10; 11-24-2004 at 10:44 AM. |
