Let me know how this turns out. Like I said, I used an 80 crossmember and I am having the same problem with the engine sitting too high. I might have a newer set of engine brackets "somewhere".

I had the same problem. I dont know where the towers or clam shells I have came from, but regardles I have never been able to find the correct set up. Forgot about talking to a parts guy at the dealerships, you would get the same look on the face of your dentist if you ask him the question. I gave up.....and now set up for the stock mounts. Want to buy a nice set of poly late model engine and transmission mounts?
quarenteed not to fit without the use of a BFH.

so what years will work

SO....
What year clams and mounts will work on a 67-72 frame???
I am interested in this swap. just from reading I couldn't get a real clear answer. My dad has 79 1 ton sitting at home. without a motor. Any Clear answers from someone who had a set of mounts work out for them without any major mods and such, or maybe if some one could point me to a post from above that answers my Question that I may have missed.
Thanks

I tried 1980 305 stands and they were a little tall would need spacers. luckilys found some 72 stands with mounts tried those but motor would not bolt up so I am guessing they were big block mounts so i ended up taking shells off of 80 stands and using them on the 72 stands ,305 went right in.

they came off of an 85 suburban but seem to be generic through the years. there is however 2 styles. the other type mounts the engine higher. i have only seen them in stick shift trucks but it could have been a factory thing. i'm not sure. anyway look for the brackets that i pictured in the faq.
ondrew
p.s. you can try getting them through a dealership but mine said they were unavalable.
