first off you need to take the front cover off to see what all it needs you will need a ring grear also period. So you need to check the ratio then find a used set of matched gears. Now if you open it up and there is metal all over you will need to dissasemble the whole axel to inspect all the bearings and clean out all the metal. If you find the bearings are shot also, get a master rebuild kit. If you feel you cannot handel the job or set the gears up correctly just buy a complete used axel that is in working order and the ratio matches the other one. should only be about $100.00 for a used one. maybe your best bet. as gears / rebuild kit will run you about $250.00 for the good stuff. percision gear has a chart on there website to show you how to set them up if you go new.
If you have any questions just ask. Be sure to verify the gears in the housing of your old unit and whatever you get. if they do not match its big problems for your 4x4.
