Does anyone know if the I6 came with power steering? If so can anyone direct me to pics or a place to get them.

Yes the six bangers came with PS, but they are hard to find. They come up for sale here sometimes, also check with e-bay.

The 250 and 292 brackets are two different animals. Get the brackets you need and go from there. You can use the steering gear box from a 73+ chevy truck instead of getting one that's 30+ years old.

Because of how rare they are (esp. the 292) and how many people want them, expect to pay extra, unless you have time to wait for a deal to come along.

Lot of good stuff if you search for "power steering brackets" or maybe just power steering.

The 292 engine is much taller than the 250 engine is.

292 engine

Here's a 292, note the location of the distributor and the fuel pump. The 250 will have different locations. Also, the engine mounts and the 250 are in line with each other, but the 292's are offset.

just the passenger motor mount is offset on the 292! when you narrow it down the 292 is just taller!(more cubic space) I am also looking for a power steering mount for a 250! It mounts where the alternator is mounted. lower drivers side!

Thanks 69 halfton! I know now that it has a 250. So what does the pump brackets look like and what do I do with the Alternator? Sorry for all the questions but as I said the sixes are foreign to me.

One of the great assets of this board is the search function. When you're logged in, there is a link at the top of the page to search for whatever you need. Most of the material has been covered many times, and is there to research your project. Not trying to belittle you if you already knew this, but based on the lack of response to your question, and my lack of time (I'm going to work in an hour), I thought it'd be best to point it out more specifically than I did the first time.

He's a link to one I found from a search:

http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...hreadid=108987

I bought a homemade ps setup for my 292 (could not find an original setup) from Frank (PICKMUP) and I'd start with him to see if he's got any left.

You won't always get the information you need in one search, but here's the results for "power steering inline":

http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...searchid=21115

you might also try "power steering brackets" or "inline integrated" to learn more about your engine.

Thank you all for the help. Found a set out at the junk yard last night for a 250. Also scored a cherry 67 front grill with good chrome and radiator support no rust for $70. Guy had it sitting up on a hill behind the yard virtually un molested.
