Was your truck a six cylinder previously? It looks like the z-bar is too far forward. If you look at your block above the oil filter pad there is another hole, the z-bar should bolt there, which means if you have six cylinder clutch parts- push rod, it won't work unless you find a manifol from a later truck or car that dumps like the passenger side. 3994045 is the correct # for the manifold and this application.

it was originally a 6 but we just pulled the 350 out of it and the clutch worked fine.im hearing i need to get the linkage out of a 75 and later truck and relocate it to the back drivers side side of the block

Reason I ask about the six, looks like the 350 was located in the six position- back two holes in the frame- and that has the z-bar location off. Check your vin and see if it has CS or CE at the beginning of the numbers to determine- S = six E=eight

the truck was originaly a 6,when i got it it already had the 350 and the z -bar ball was mounted forward of the oil filter not at that rear hole

You don't need linkage from another year, just the clutch rod (part coming down through the hole from clutch pedal). You will have to move the z-bar back to line up with the pivot point on the block. You can get away with the SB mounted in that position due to the configuration of the manifold, the big block moves the collector further back and hits right where you currently have the z-bar. Remember, you are crossing components from two different animals, while there are some things you can fudge for a 6 to sb, the bb requires the movement of parts to line up correctly. Unless you can find a manifold off of some car w/bb I do not think you can use what you have in the present configuration. Good time for and automatic and then no problems
