how hard would it be to rewire a 74 non air truck from fonrt to back? im gettin a 74 chevy that needs all the wires recone that the po had cut anc hacked just cuz he couldnt get it to run, ive looked at the truck and it looks straight, just has a few rust spots which i aint to worried about at the time, everything will be done in time after i get it runnin, it has no moter but it does have a turbo 350 with it, only thing missin in it is the moter which i have a in a 70 sittin out back here,the only reason im pickin this truck up is die to teh fact that the 70 i have has a cracked frame and plus hes only askin $100 and my rims off my 70 which i dont have any more then $50 in, so it dont matter to me, the 74 has all five 10 inch rallys for it, and the tires are in fair shape , which is alot better then maypops, after i get it im gonna do the wires then drop my 350 in and then start workin on the interior, then ill start workin on the body to get it ready for paint, ill have pics of the truck after it gets here,then yall can give me your opinions on it and what all i could do to it,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,mark newbie to the 73-87 board

Check the Painless wiring post. I think if you had a weekend you could pull everything old out and then put all the new back in.

I have a mostly complete wiring harness from my 76 sitting around doing nothing if you want it. I cut the wires that go to the tailights / reverse lights etc, and the two wires that go to the door switches, I think thats about it though... The wires are in decent shape, and I don't think that it was hacked up at all less my cutting to get it out.

If you want pictures, and for me to identify all the cut wires, I can do so, I'd send the harness with some shrink wrap so you could splice the busted wires in (who knows, the truck may not even have a cab light...) It'd come with the fuse box attached, but it will need new fuses, I busted em all trying to get them out, lol

How does 30 bucks plus the ride sound? Painless will be something like 2 - 300 bucks US...

I'll run out and grab the harness in a couple minutes here and take some pictures for you

Shipping would be less than 30 bucks cnd I'd guess via USPS ground. My camera battery went dead on me before I could get any pictures, so I'll have to grab em after school (I'm on my spare / lunch right now)

Just giving the harness a once over (I pulled it about 6 months ago) It seems a cut a few more wires that I orginally though, mostly in regards to the interior lights, tail lights, and ground wires. Like I said earlier, I'll get pictures of all the cut ends, and identifiy all of the connectors before sending it down to you / repairing whatever I can up here with the stuff I have. All of the wires are in as good of shape as I remembered them being, wire looming is good too, and it really wouldn't need more than maybe an afternoon to splice in whatever it is missing.

No pressure whatsoever, I'm in no hurry to sell anything, just figured it would probally be cheaper for you in the long run to buy a good OEM harness that needs a bit of work to get the same effect that the Painless setup would provide.

PS -- This is a harness that is for a standard transmission truck, if you need one for an automatic, lemme know and I'll make the changes it needs for you.

i thnik what ill do is look around here and see if i cant find one local, i was askin on here how hard it would be to rewire one with oem wires from another truck

I wouldn't say it'd be too tough if you find one locally. Just make sure that you solder and seal the connections properly... Then again, I love playing with electronics, so I guess it may come easier to me than others, lol

i can relate on playing with electronics also, ive had to rewire a few diff cars ive had in the past, and it never took taht long , but ive never done a truck before
