Proportioning Valve Question

Today must be brake day or something. I need a new prop. valve and the old one is discontinued. What do I buy and how do I hook up the brake light wire on the new one. Thanks.

How do you know you need one?

A Prop valve does more than one thing. It delays the front disc from applying compared to the rears. 4 wheel drum Prop valves don't.

Second function is in case of a catastrophic failure in the front or rear circuits, a block inside slides and blocks the fluid from continuing out the bad line. It then sets the 'brake' light on telling the driver there is a problem. (like he won't know from his foot going to the floor).

The PO left the brakes a mess and I decided since it doesnt run yet, to change all the brake components before the engine this summer.

You'll find a replacement here. If you are staying with stock brakes, you need the disc/drum prop valve. Brake warning light wire hooks up just like yours does now.
