So, my truck has had this problem now for quite a while... I actually put it to the back of my mind, and then thought- hey maybe someone knows what's going on and can help me figure this out. It drips very slowly onto the trans hump and when I put my hand behind the dash, I get an oily mess.

I am 99.9% sure (speculation- haven't poked under there yet) that it is an oil pressure line for the oil pressure guage. Is that correct?

I thought the oil pressure guage was a one wire sensor that went into the block... Now, my oil guage is definitely stock (or OEM looking anyways). My oil pressure guage works just fine.

So a) is the leak an oil pressure line, or b) what else might it be?

Stick head under dash. You will see copper line(oil pressure line). Tighten fitting on back of gauge. Remove head from under dash then try to work crick from neck. LOL

That"s probably what it is. Mine just let go this week but under the hood. Sprayed oil every ware. ( Mine was steel and rusted out )

#3 Wipe oil from haid and shoulders.
#4 Cuss
#5 clean truck floor.

hey at least the oil leaking on the floor is inhibiting rust! maybe back it off all the way and throw some teflon on it, wouldnt hurt if the threads were damaged or cross threaded

How many of us have taken out the guages for some reason, and forgot to put the oil line back in place, and started the truck ? ! ?

Same sort of mess you are talking about!! Got Rags ! ?

Connection is nice and snug, so I will back it out and get some teflon tape in there.

i had same problem... on both ends of the line. i got a kit from jegs for like 5 or 10 bucks. if the line is too far gone at either end you might have to replace like i did. it's easy except for getting to the block sending end of the line. meybe want to do it anyway... preventative maintenance?

dont use teflon tape it wont seal. you need to get a new fitting for the end of the line or just buy the 10 dollar copper line kit that comes with fittings. dont waste your time with teflon its a compression fitting and uses the metal line to seal not the threads
