Heater ?

Any Ideas on how to get the damn thing to work better. Its getting cold as hell. really just need to seed the fan up

New fan I'd guess. Not much else to speed them up, if they are old. Have you checked to make sure your heater ducting isn't cracked? I looked at mine the other day, and there are gaping cracks and holes all over the place. Not to mention my heater core is shot.

Well, you don't give us a lot to go on. If the fan is bad, replace it. Some other possibilities...

Should have a good 190 or 195 t-stat.
If A/C truck, maybe bad water valve (on pass. inner fender).
Heater core may be plugged.
Possible blockage or restriction anywhere in cooling system.

Are your radiator and heater hoses hot to the touch when truck is fully warmed up?

On the back of the heater controls is the fan speed switch. Many times that has gone bad and you can't select your high speed. If that is your problem you can easily replace it for under $10 I think. Or pull it apart and re-peen the copper rivets so they are secure. A little di-electric grease and it will be as good as new. If it is your motor then change it out. They used to be $70-80 at the parts store. About 5 years ago they started selling for $20. Both real cheap fixes.

If that doesn't fix it then you will need to dig deeper into the mechanical of the flapper doors and make sure they are set right. There is always a chance some mouse decided to eat all the vanes from the squirel cage fan and then finished off his meal with the rubber from the flapper door. Just a few other reasons you might not have enough heat.

Is it an A/C truck? I've been told that a blower motor for an A/C truck will blow faster than a non-A/C blower motor. I have not checked this out for myself tho..

The A/C blower is rated at more amps, but I have seen plenty of switches with burnt terminals on the stock set up.
Is your cab drafty? You'd be amazed at how much it makes a difference when you seal up the floor boards and rockers. I was complaining last winter of crappy heat, just to find out I had 200 degree air coming out the vents.

I took mine all apart a few days ago,and cleaned,lubed,and resealed everything,and it get so hot in the cab now you feel like you're in the tropics.You'd be surprised at all the crap that falls in there through the years.I found a glove,3 lighters,and a bunch of leaves
The whole process took only a couple of hours start to finish,I reccommend it
