Tilt Steering column problem

I have a later model tilt column that I'm trying to tighten up. The problem is during disassembly one pivot pin came right out using a 8/32 screw on a slide hammer, but the other one will not budge!! The screw pulled out after a couple hits. I have tried several screws, even a M4 metric. Any suggestions on cleaning up the threads and using something else??? Greg

this needs to be in the message side of the board , you may get a better response there. unless you're gonna get frustrated and sell it!
