Get LED's designated for the bulb socket and they have the same base as a regular bulb, so a brake taillight LED would be 1157 LED Red, a backup light is 1156 LED Clear, 69-70 Parklight 1157LED Amber, so on and so forth.

Thumbs up

For those wanting even a brighter Red light emitting from their Clear lenses when using Red bulbs or LED Red bulbs we now offer and stock taillight housings Powder Coated in
Near-Chrome for increased side light reflection of bulb or LED from the housing its-self.

Beware of the cheap LED 1157 replacements they sell at part stores. You have to light a match to tell if they are on. They do not put out as much light as an 1157 bulb and are very directional, meaning that tho they may look OK, sitting in a car sitting behind your truck, a guy sitting in a semi six feet in the air can't tell they are on,not good. I put one in my Harley ,pushed the brake pedal, laughed, then took it back out, but it was a $9 laugh.

These are very expensive but as you can see are far superior to any other LED bulb replacement, they have Led that project to the side which will reflect off the housing better, as Tom HAnd stated the regular LED suck, I have them they do put out less light although the ones GMC Paul carries are brighter than some, they still don't put out anough light by my book. Plus the ones above have a 2 year warrenty. Even with chromed housings it won't brighten your tail lights much with LEDs unless you use the ones above. LED only emitt light 20 degrees usually.

I agree with Tom...although I had an 18 dollar laugh....they are directional, and DO NOT work worth a flying fk in stepside taillights. And the turn signals won't flash, and hell, one of the bulbs was a dud outta the package....never again.....

You guys must be talking about APC's. My laugh cost me closer to $30.00. APC's are worthless!!! I tried some 1157's from Jamstrait and they work ok. I also tried the 194 Jamstraight bulbs for my side markers and they are super bright, however, they are a little more spendy than others. I guess you get what you pay for. Oh, Autozone carries Jamstraight products so no shipping costs as well....

I'm convinced! I'm stickin' with the origianls! Never had a problem with them anyway. I have noticed in the past that a good lense cleaning can do wonders because of the road dust that seems to migrate into the housings of both running and tail lights. And, the price is right on the ol' 1157's, etc.

Wow, glad I didn't invest in the LED's. I was seriously considering them but I think I'll put that idea on indefinate hold.

well, if you're considering LEDs.. since our taillights are nice and flat.. I'd look into www.radiantz.com they don't show it on the site, but if ya give em a call they can custom make arrays for you to fill the entire taillight lense you hve. and they're bright too. I plan on having them do mine when I'm ready (if they're still in business by then lol) what I would do.. if you ever thought about going back to 1157 bulbs is take the bulb twist in aseembly out, and cut the wires a ways back, and put female spade connectors on your wiring coming out of the taillight houseing. then put males on the LED array and the twist in assembly.. then its juts a matter of swapping the 2 of them out if you ever want to go back.

Hope that helps, I wouldn't trust round LED clusters simplyt because during the day thats all you get, a round dot in the middle of a lense. I run them in my F*** with clear lenses and I get a lot of complaints.

Like I said the LED in the picture will solve all common problems with standard LED bulbs. I've never ran them and they are expensive. But do offer a 2 year warrenty, no standard bulbs offer warrenties.

but fact is LEDs are going to replace standard bulbs so everyone better get used to it, they are more efficient, and last 4 times as long, create no measurable heat, And when done right can be made alot brighter. Less current draw also. But I'll agree APCs are junk, I'm having problems with them in my NEON, and in my Blazer. They aren't bright anough, I'm going to get them powder coated housing for the blazer with my clear lenses and spring for the above 1157s, They'll be awsome. But for now Until the above LEDs come way down in price, I stick with regular bulbs, They have standard bulbs that are red and don't fade. They are gas filled dyed glass, that won't burn off.

might want to try these.
