My slider has a steel lock and interlocking aluminum frame. I would think that it would be easier to just break the wing window for a theif to gain entry.

I like the looks of the solid back window. The slider makes it easier to get another beer from the cooler when you are driving (just kidding, I don't drink) and lets you hear your cool exhaust if you have pipes all the way out the back. I need to find someone locally with a solid rear window to trade me...

Stick a knife blade into the seal and slide the wing window latch up, once the latch is up open the wing window and roll down the window enough to ulnlock the door. They do make some little latches that attach to your wing window to keep people from being able to do this to the wing windows. Check the HELP section of the parts store for them.

On another note I have a slider in my truck. Has a metal lock in it and have never had a problem with it. The only way to break into that window is to bust the glass and if that is the case I am willing to bet they would break the glass in the wing window first.

sliding rear window

Has anyone seen the entire back window that slides downward? I've seen some trucks years ago but nothing ever mentioned or seen recently. T****ta has it now in their new T****ma. Looks sweet. I'm looking if anyone has info on our trucks.

I saw one of those full roll down rear windows on a 67-72 once, but I forget where. They also have them on the new Ford Super crew F150's, I think its a neat design. Although to put one in a 67-72 pretty much precludes the use of the in cab gas tank.

My rear slider has the metal latch too, once I even locked my keys in my truck and tried to get into it that way. Didn't work with my pocket knife. I did, however, pop the wing vent like Maximum Overdrive said, and had a girl with slender arms reach in and pop the handle for me.

I was told that the handle wouldnt pop the lock on these trucks?

I saw someone post an old ad here once about a removable rear window but it looked kinda cheesy but then again the ad looked 30 years old.

Well, since I started this debate I guess I'll chime in now. As a cop if they want your vehicle they'll get it. It really doesn't matter. GreyhoundSteve, I understand what you're saying about not making it easy though. You'd be surprised on how many IDIOTS get there cars broken into and just leave the door unlocked or the windows rolled down. Talk about inviting them. We have a real problem around here at the local Crackel Barrel with cars getting broken into. Here's an example of how these peices of #$@* don't care-One of our officers was taking a report at the Barrel of a car burglary and these idiots hit another car while the officer was in the parking lot taking the first report. They really don't care. They should be strung by there marbles.

thanks for everybody's opinion-I think I'm going to get one.

I just put a 67 small rear window slider on ebay in perfect condition that i pulled from a wrecked 19000 mile truck 12 years or more ago, i'll bet it gets no bids at all.
