73-85 or 87 Power steering boxes should bolt onto your 67-72...you may have to modify the left front bumper bracket.

Anyone else done this?

He'll need to dimple the frame on a 67 truck.

around 80 or so, they went to metric.
Yes, on a 67 and early 68 frame, you'll need to dimple the frame just a little where the box will hit. Once you go to install the box, you'll know where to dimple it. Don't just use washers to space the box out, you'll mess up the geomitry and cause wear on the box.

I took a small propane torch and heated mine before I started banging on it. Seemed to make it a little easier. I didn't have it glowing red but I heated it pretty good and then cooled it with a water soaked rag.

That looks differnt from my box. I got mine from a 68 chevy, and it bolted right in. Only had to trim the rad support bracket , I think. I still haven't done the bumper bracket.

Purple, you may have purchased the hard to find (and problem prone) Ram assist power steering.
You have any pics of it?
Bryan....I'm thinking that is not a good way to cool the frame. I may be mistaken, (and ppl eplease jump in if I am) bit quenching it like that makes the metal brittle.

Yep, you need to let the frame cool on it's own. If you rush the cooling by quenching it, it will tend to harden the frame in that area. You want your frame nice and soft.

no visible rams on my box, just looks like a normal power steering box. I doubt if it was original to the truck I got it from, it was shimmed out with about 3-4 washers on every bolt. but it seemed to bolt right on to my truck wich was original manual steering, after I notched the frame by the rad support bracket ?got no pix.( cause I can't figure out my camera's software), and my trucks in the muffler shop till monday anyways .. It was built in Canada, could that mean it was already dimpled? Crap. now the suspense is killing me. Maybe I won't get to finally drive the damn thing tomorrow? Hope I'm not hijacking this thread?

OK, the spacers you mention, that explains it.
I would remove the spacers ASAP personally. It can lead to premature wear on the gear box, and if the bolts get stresed, the added leverage can break them, and if one goes, the others would be soon to follow.

I bolted a ps box from an '84 onto my 68 frame with no "dimple" needed. In fact, all I had to do was drill one hole. I never drove the truck so I don't know if it was installed the right way. I'd like to do the same thing with my '69 - am I installing the thing the wrong way?

SOme 68's were made with the dimple from what I understand. I have never seen one, but my hands on with 67/68 is very limited.
Don't worry about your 69...it's set up for the later model gear box.

rumors

I talked to a guy with a 68 frame and no dimple. He had a PS box bolted up to it without spacers or dimple. It looked like it snugged up tight and was close fit. Does anyone know what steering box combo this could have been? Aren't there a new style PS box that works on our trucks but uses different PS hose fittings? Which years of PS boxes are these and how might the boxes be different? (ratios, mouting holes, hoses needed, etc.)

Truck is not on road yet just need to get it right in mock up stages.

I have a 67 setup if you need it, worked when pulled a few years ago and stored inside 75.00 + shipping.
