a/c question for you....
Here is an A/C connection for you... I just finished hooking up my A/C in my 72 Chevy truck... I am thinking I have it backwards…
Shouldn’t the ac compressor get hot instead of cold? Plus the dryer is getting cold? Shouldn’t it get hot? The evaporator was not hot either? I am guess I have it backwards… Shouldn’t the low side of the compressor run to the dryer then to the condenser back to the evaporator to the high side of the compressor?? Something is not computing… How should the system be hooked up? I am a little confused here any clarification would be greatly appreciated. I have an R-134A compressor on this system… Can I switch to freeze 12 with this compressor? Or should I stick with the 134a? I think once I get the system straight it will work wonderful! Thoughts? I think I might be a little retarded when it comes to A/C Stuff....

Hi side of compressor runs to condensor. It gets hot cause of the high pressure. From there to the dryer(accumulator). Dryer should be warm or neutral? Then just before the evaporator(where the orifice tube is) it should be cold. Evaporator should be cold. Then the line goes to the compressor. From end of orifice tube to the input of compressor is low pressure side.

I use 1987 A/C parts for my system. I still use a long type compressor though. Its upgraded to 134 cause I can't buy R12 anymore. And the price of R12! I would'nt change back. Oil and cleaning and O-rings have to be replaced and also new schrader valves to accept the relevant adapters. A/C guys look at the schraders to ID 134 or 12. But stickers should be present also. Since I put tubes in from junkyard that had old style 12, one guy kept telling me I had 12 when I told him 3 times what the situation was. Duh!

So when does the 134 actually get compressed and cold?
From your diagram you sent, it shows that the low side is suction and the high is forcing the 134 into the expansion valve and evaporator?
