installing new turn signal switch

Got my new turn signal switch today and gonna put it in tomorrow (as long as the chevy dealer has the straight to horseshoe adapter i need)

I know the basics of doing it, but are there any tips or tricks I need to know.
Or any "Dang It, WHY THE HE** DID I DO THAT" things I might run into.

thanks guys

I like to make sure wheels are dead straight ahead then disconnect battery. I always take the adapter and cut off the end of the straight part that has no connectors. You will need a steering wheel puller. Remove the screw holding the lever. Be very careful removing the cancel cam brass contacts (there are 4 tiny springs under those). Now is the time to replace the cam if it's cracked. Push the hazard button in and slide the switch up and out on an angle because it's a tight fit. You will need to remove the metal column cover on the underside of the column to access the wiring. Unplug the old harness and pull the wires up thru the cup. Take the new harness straight end and slide it back thru the cup very carefully. I'm going on memory here so I might have a step or two out of order or missed a step. If you have trouble just ask and we will guide you thru it.
