Vehicles of any type are a lot like wives/girlfriends.... As soon as you start spending what they percieve as too much time on WHATEVER else, they get pi$$y. Just spend some MONEY on her, time with her and lots of love... She'll come back around and decide you are'nt so bad after all.

dude you have no idea how much time and effort i have put into this freakin thing....i started with an old rusted POS truck stripped it to the frame and put it back together....built the motor from a block bought a tranny for it put a shift kit in it and a new convertor put PS PB on it changed the front end got new mounts for everything etc etc. i mean i have spent every freakin dollar i have had in the past like year on this thing and it still bends me over and gives it to me!

From the descriptions on what you have done with your pride and joy throughout the entire period, to me it all adds up to sweat equity. A rare quality not generally found these days. You undoubtely know virtually every nut-and-bolt albiet rusty, broken, or new on your truck. We all at one time or another have had the "twin-tumored" jaw syndrome, it passes. Stay with the problem, learn. I still learn something on these trucks everyday.

2 cents on the cooling prob. From the picture I see you are running without the shroud, and are using the clutch-fan system. Not sure on this configuration. I have always seen the shroud with a flex fan or something like it. Are you running the 350 water pump or the higher volume 400? Put a thermostat in it in either case. Sounds as if the machining on the heads is correct. The lower hose blowing off doesn't indicate to me there is a blockage problem with the radiator since the fluid blew out the bottom, it had to get there.

Sorry for the long post, just wanted to chime-in on feeling the brutha's pain...

it's not serpentine....it's a 400 pump i think...it's not a cooling issue.....the thing was covered in snow and like 20 degrees outside when it happened and as i've said a couple times i could stick my hand in the coolant....it wasnt that hot....that's why it seemed so weird to me....if it was really hot i would have never said anything.
