Power Steering Conversion Question

I'm looking to do a power steering conversion on my 1971 Chevy. I have found a complete setup (gearbox, mounts, and pump) from a 1979 Chevy. Will this bolt directly up to my truck or should I hold out for a setup from an earlier truck?

Thanks for the help,
Steven

Could I just go to a long water pump or would I need to get a different steering pump?

To go to long water pump you would also have to change alt/AC brackets, crank pulley. Better to just get different steering pump bracket the pump should bolt up fine.

So I would just need a set of brakets for the pump and short water pump.

Yes, and yours should already have a short water pump (unless someone changed it). Difference between short and long pump:http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s....php3?t=109160
