What are FACTORY IDIOT LIGHTS for dash cluster? It's a dumb question but I'll never know until I ask.

Instead of gauges there are little lights that light up to let you know something is wrong (usually too late to actually do something about it). Oil, temp, and brake are the ones I know of.

Yup, and they are prevalent on the dashes that only have the "3" clusters... speedo, fuel and the blank thing in the middle with the turn signals. I happen to have one of these crappy dashes and added aftermarket gages.

In their day.. those lights were often though of as more advanced as gauges had been around a longer time.
