installing BB in a 67 ?

brother got a 454 he wants to put in his 67 swb that currently has a original 327. will this 454 install without any major modification? will he need BB motor mounts, will the engine have to install in the front holes or back holes in the frame ? he has the 4/6 drop kit installed from american classic will these springs support a BB? any prior experience information would be appreciated. thanks

me3, that is for a 4X4 truck.
A 67 is WAY easier.
Go to the C l a s s i c H e a r t b e a t site and look for the garden truck write up. He is doing this swap on a 67.

It can be done. I bought BB towers and the appropriate engine mounts - quite expensive. I bolted the towers in the front hole configuration (had to do a little grinding on the frame if I recall correctly - its been a couple years). Here's a pic:

Here's one from the right side: And BTW I am using the springs that originally held a I6 and looks like they will be just about right. Using ECE 2 1/2" dropped spindles too.

If this works here's the #'s. I did this just for the hell of it. I just got a cheap digi-cam and thought I'd see if I could enter this world of instant communication and pics.

I used to run a '67 K/10 Suburban the PO had put a 454 in. It had a TH350 (not a TH400) -- also the PO's idea. According to the glovebox it came from the factory with a 283 and SM 465. With the stock leaf springs set up for the SBC and drum brakes, there were some issues with steering and braking. I think it was mounted on small block mounts. At 80 mph, the 454 would shake the whole doghouse, and it went thru a few carrier bearings and U-joints. At that speed the transfer case had a hum that always sounded to me like: "The Wabbits are coming hurrah, hurrah..."
It was a gas hog and when I had a carb fire, I sidelined it until I can rebuild the BBC.
