qjet ques... and starting SUCCESS!!!
I just got my driver 74 up and runnign today with its new 305.. WOOHOO!!! dont have an exhaust on it yet, but out of open headers it sounds pretty good... anyway, the question is, i adjusted my timing and idle set screws to get about 20-22 Hg/in at an idle, BUT i cant seem to adjust my idle down to 800 rpm, my idle speed set screw is backed all the way out and none of hte linkages seem to be binding... lowest i can get is about 1100... the carb ran on the motor (actually ran same specs when running in the 72 c20 i pulled the motor from) but idled fine and i set everthing back to same position after rebuild (not the first quad ive redone).. is there somethign im missing??? float adjust outta whack... please lemme know from your experiences... thanks
--Mike... oh and i will get pics of it soon... looks pretty cool as an old 283, witht the front mounted oil filler and chevrolet script valve covers...

Sounds like the fast idle cam is staying engaged. Look for it on the passenger side of the carb with the choke mechanism.
