I have narrowed my choices down to two shifters but can't decide which to get.It will either be the b&m pro stick or the pro rachet. What are the diffrences between the two?

The "ratcheting" shifter handle stays in the same position irregardless of the gear your in. Meaning you can smack it forward or back wards and with each hit it moves to make the shift then returns to the original position. For example to go from neutral to L1 would take 3 separate tugs on the shifter. With each tug the tranny would drop a gear but the shifter handle stays in the same position, it does not move up and down the gate. I'm probably making this harder than it needs to be but I'm having trouble describing how it works. The Pro Stick is similar except that no matter how hard you hit it, it will only make one shift but the shifter moves the length of the gate. They both have a reverse lock out (a tab you will have to move to get into reverse).

I had a ratchet shifter and did not like the way it worked JMO.... I do have a b@m star shifter and love the way it work's and it is not a ratcheing style of shifter...

Ya, they do take some getting used to. Definately a strip type shifter. I like them especially on a reverse valve body tranny. But a lot of people find them to be a pain.
