If the posi carrier and gears are out of a 12 bolt truck rear end it should be a direct replacement. I believe that the axles out of the later model are longer but the 70 axles will have the same spline.

It is a 12 bolt just like mine. Will I just use "my" axles?

You can measure to make sure if they are the same length or not, but yes you can use your axles. Sometimes the axle bearing surfaces are spalled and the axle needs to be changed, so it is worth checking just in case you need one.

12 bolt internals are same, stay away from van 10 series axles though, they are only 2400 and 2900lb rated, the K10 are 3300 rated and ours in C-10 trucks are 3500lb and the van 20 series are the heaviest at 3600lb, G20 are 12 bolt also, this applies to all years of ther 12 bolt, '64-82
70-82 12 bolt pickup sjafts are same length, all 12 bolt at least 3300-up are 31 spline, cant say for sure on van ones, as i have run into a 17 spline pinion yoke one(2900lb) so.,,,,,, :S |
