If you pull on the cable itself does it feel like there is a spring pulling aginst it. Or is it really tight and wont move. There is a spring that holds aginst the linkage in the transmission. I think it should go all the way back in...Later Mike

I have a HRM layin around here somewhere. I believe it says something like there is a little button on the side of the cable up around where it goes through the bracket by the carburetor. Your apost to push that in that lets the cable adjust. Then while thats pushed in your apost to go full throttle with the carburetor, then push the button back in to lock it. I havent done this in a few years so im a little rusty. Try that then let me know what still happening. Good luck...Later Mike

Oh and I believe if it doesnt spring back all the way then something is interfering with it down where it connects at the tranny. Id pull the bolt back out and have someone pull the cable and Id slide it back into the tranny and reinstall the bolt and then see if you have any binding still...Later Mike

What I had to do is put a small bolt and nut at the end of the slider that goes over the throttle linkage so it would pull the cable farther at wide open now it is down shifting I will adjust it some more tommorow it seems the end piece slider thingy is to long? So I think it is snapping back it is just that the slider is to long does that make sense? Think it will be ok like it is? Seems fine now just afiad I might be pulling it to far? The slider thing on my old cable is much shorter.

Well not really but im not there im sure your on the right track. Just mess with it a little more and im sure it will be just right. Oh and the CORRECT way to check automatic tranny fluid it to get the tranny up to operating temp. Then stop and put it in park or in neutral with the PB set. And pull the dipstick wipe it clean then replace it and pull it and check it. Then add as needed hope this helps. Good luck with it...Later Mike

Yeah man I hear ya, Yeah I would just pull it out and when you feel it get tight that is about enough. And then just try to adjust it to where it will only pull that far or just a smidge further...Later Mike
