Engine hop up questions?

I am sort of new to the 4x4, mostly street cars before. So I am looking for a little wisdome when it comes to beefing up the motor (stock 350) I have in my truck. Overall it runs good now, except one bank of valve seals is going, I am planning to put at least a cam, intake and new carb on it. What combos have proved best for you guys. Looking for the average 90% road and lite towing, 10% fun on the trails. Weekend driving mostly. Should I be looking for low end torque or mid range, I'm guessing mid range. The truck is a 3/4 ton, 4 spd, unknown gearing.

So to sum it up, what cam, intake and carb should I be looking for? Anything else I should take care of when I'm doing this?

Tons of body work in my future so i want to get the engine buttoned up first.

THanks

I would look at some of comps 4X4 line of camshafts. Also a edelbrock intake and carb, some headers and a good flowing exhaust and be done with it. Good luck with it in the future...Later Mike

build for low to mid range torque, and dont worry about horsepower.
