Engine positions
Hey guys!
There wouldn't be any issues with moving a 4x4 engine forwards to the V8 position would there? I am gonna have to run the 4x4 as a 2wd for the first little bit (2wd tranny to the rear diff) and as such, I'm gonna need to move the engine to the V8 position (I heard all 4x4s came in the I6 position) so the driveshaft will be the right length. Due to me putting in a divorced case, I gotta put in a tranny crossmember anyways, and my driveshafts will need to be custom made anyways. Now, as I am sticking in a 2wd driveshaft, I also gotta install the steady bearing, does the 4x4 chassis have that crossmember already, or will I need to install one? I know that the frame rails between a 4x4 and 2wd are identical, both are the same part number, but are all the holes for 2wd equipment already drilled in the 4x4 frame? I know you guys think I am crazy, but yeah, my 14 bolt on the GMC is headed south, and I'd rather just switch over to the new chassis and get rid of the old one. Getting the 80, 74 and 79 frankentined also means I can put the 74 back together with what parts I have left over from the three trucks and sell it, which would buy me the rest of the 4x4 components I need.
