SBC Mounts????? HELP PLEASE - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

Hi everybody,
I just bought a 67 that was supposed to have had a SBC in it before the engine got removed, but after talking to the guy that owned the truck before the guy I bought it from, it was a 6 cylinder!!!!! I'm trying to get some info about this before I jump in the engine compartment, and to get parts ready before starting with this. What will I need to put the V-8 into a 6 compartment for mounts? If anybody has what I need, PLEASE PM me!
Looking at this truck now, makes me realize that I bought a parts truck and I want to revive it, so please help!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks in advance.

Relax man... take a deep breath,, have a cup of decafe.. You'll need a couple V-8 motor mounts.. I've seen v-8's mounted on 6 mounts, but you want to do it right..Someone will have the mounts, you'll give 'em a few bucks, and your troubles will be over..( well your motor mount troubles,, there will be other troubles, but that's just life). It's a new year,, it's a new day...Think posative.. we're here to help...

You can do that job a few different ways.....personally, i like the sb dropped in I 6 position, there are pros & cons both ways. my 1st ? , is what are you running for trans? crazyL

Put it in on the 6 cylinder mounts. That way you don't have to jack with the transmission, crossmember moving, driveshaft lengthening, linkage modification and all of that.

If you put it in on the 6 stands, all of that stuff gets left alone. It's much faster, easier, and cheaper.

Hey Guys, Thanks for that info. I'm going with a short TH 350 so everythings cool!!!!!! Do ya know if the driveshaft will accept that tranny without changing yokes?

It depends on what type of transmission the yoke is intended for.

If it was a manual 3 speed, yes it will work with the TH350.
If it was a TH400, no it won't work.

I got a 350 V8 on 6 cyl. mounts and it all works fine. no problems.

The driveshaft I have is a two piece, "supposed" to be the original. If I remember right, the column shift is set up for automatic, a 3 spd. if I remember right. Would/could it have had a 400 in 67?
The ONLY nomenclature tag I can find on this truck is the serial plate on the door post. That tag lists the VIN number, and below that is "DD". Any ideas what that stands for? Where else (besides the glove box since it's weather destroyed) can I find build info? Was there a tag on the firewall? I built a 67 Malibu years ago, but I've forgotten so much.................. too many birthdays I guess!
I have this truck in a storage lot right now, I'll have to go look to see if the yoke will go into the 350 tail.
