Heater Valve Woes
So, I have an A/C cab with no A/C. All that's left in the engine compartment is the drier. There is no heater valve, as there isn't any vacuum to control it, so the hose goes straight to the core. Even when the fan's not on, that stupid thing is pouring heat into my cab, and it's the middle of summer...
What can I do? Do the non-A/C trucks have a manual heater valve or are they vacuum controlled, too? Any suggestions? Thanks!

Take the heater hoses off the Core, and use one of them to loop the system bypassing the core for now, and then figure out what is going on with the switch. Not a fix, just a bandaid to keep you from boiling for now.

you can go to your local parts store and get a manual shut off valve for your heater that goes in line to stop water flow to the heater core. i had the same problem with the vacuum operated water valve so i put in the manual valve and no more heat in cab!!

Non a/c trucks have a valve inside the "doghouse" controlled by a lever on the control panel(middle lever labeled heat) and a cable similar to a manual choke. Good luck and keep on truckin'!----Jerry
