oil pressure problem

i have just swapped my inline 6 for a used 350 and i am having low oil pressure at idle. it drops all the way down to zero. but while i am driving the pressure is fine. what could be causing this. i put 20w 50 oil in to increse pressure but still have low idle pressure.

FIrst check the sender.
Could be bad or even not grounding correctly.
I have replaced an oil pump before and it turned out that is was just the sender.

i dont have a tach and the sender was good from the six that it came off of (they were interchangeable- thank you GM!). could i idle the truck up to increase pressure? i think its sitting at about 6-8psi at idle.
