Looking to change over the front end on my 68 and have been hitting the salvage yards for mid 70 trucks. What would you guys consider a good price?

Around here, a complete suspension is about 150 or so for good stuff.

Where are you exactly in N Texas?

Hey Shorts,

Not sure what a good price would be... One thing I often do is hit a couple of them and ask each one what they would charge for a complete front suspension....

Truthfully in north Texas it should be plenty cheap.

There are tons of the 73-87s around my parts....

What part of North Texas are you in?

I live Northwest of Fort Worth.

If you live close I can recomend a couple of decent places that are pick and pulls here.

I paid $80 Canadian but the parts needed a complete overhaul.

I am in Wichita Falls. I bought my son the 68 and we have everything apart and are starting on the frame and I figure now is the good time to get the front changes out. Also looking to swap the rear out to a 5 lug. Currently has the Dana 44 non-posi. Had a 72 before and sold it like a dummy. Couldn't pass this one up.

I'd have to say $100-$150 would be pretty standard and you could feel good if that's what you paid for the whole thing (from dust cap to dust cap).

So around 150 is fair. I have read that mid 70s fit pretty much with little mods. Any ones I should avoid. I found this board by chance and I can say all the info and folks here are just amazing. Wish it was here 10yrs ago when I got the 72.

I own a 1979 Chevy with front discs on it. I'd sell the ENTIRE truck for $225 and the body is pretty damn clean. This thing even drives on/off a trailor....

can't you just change the ball joints, tie rod ends and spindles?

rubber control arm bushings, which are easier and cheaper to change......

also, a zillion times more common.

I use to try and sell them for 100 or 150 Canadian $ if I took it off. They sometimes sat for years before someone would want one.
