What kind of mileage are you guys with 78-87 duallies getting?

I am sorta looking at an 85 crewcab right now, just a little curious

My 83 gets 6-10. Loaded, going over the mountains it gets 6. Loaded running around near home it does better, getting close to 10. All in all, crappy. Don't buy one to drive a lot. If you need something to put a lot of miles on, get a diesel.

I have mine because it was cheap to start with and I don't have to worry about breaking it. Some day ($$$) I'll have a Duramax.

Well, it will get driven in the snow and when I need to do some short distance towing I imagine. My dad has a 97 crewcab that I use quite a bit, and Ive got a car that gets better milieage, I just like the looks of the crewcab duallies.

What do you think is a good price for a nice one?

I paid 2k for this one:

It had a new 454, good TH400, decent tires, acceptable interior etc. They are getting pretty cheap now days because of the gas prices. Don't buy a rusty one, there are plenty of nice ones out here for cheap. Check traderonline.com to see nationwide ads...

The one I found had new paint, new tires, 40K on a replacement engine, good interior, tow package, and some other stuff and they want 4K. I am supposed to be recieving pictures of it pretty soon, so hopefully it all checks out good like they describe.

I wish I could find a cheap one here. Went and looked at an 81 today.....supposedly had a rebuilt 454 and th400. Tires were crap, interior fair, new a/c, new paint(of course looked as if it was a cover up job, found rust bubbles on the lower door skins)was also suppose to have new lower door skins. Also rebuilt rear-end and new shocks but from a look under the truck they did not look new to me or even recently rebuilt or replaced. Owner wanted $3500 FIRM
