Carb Rebuilt- OMG What a Difference

I just got my Quadrajet rebuilt. It's like I got a turbo now! It drops into the passing gear, probably doubled my MPG, I can hit 65 mph, and small animals are no longer gassed to death when they are down wind.

Best $ I have spent on my truck. Now if I can just get it to stop. I still have not figured out the brake issue.

Oh well, one step at a time.

Excellent! Track your mpgs over the next month or so and report back on this thread. I've got a Haynes how-to book on Rochester carbs. I'm thinking of rebuilding my K10's Q-jet myself. Gotta learn how to do more stuff on my own.

I should have had mine rebuilt 12 years ago...

About how much did it cost? Did a local garage do it or did you?

Thanks for getting me off the dime, my exhaust REEKS!!!

I had it done as I did not want to learn how to rebuild one with my carb. With parts it totaled $250 (gulp). I'm glad I did it though.

FYI, I've had 2 q-jets with the divorced choke rebuilt here:

Hobbs Carburetor Shop 28 Windham Road, Pelham, NH 03076 (603) 635-2415

Cost $100 (parts/labor inc) each plus shipping. Auto choke versions may cost more. I've been 100% satisfied with the work and turnaround time. The carbs were completely taken apart, cleaned and rebuild kit installed.

Also had a Holley done which cost slightly more
