Depends how much you want to learn.
I use GM dealer data books...GM dealer parts books.. gm factory assembly manual, Hollander interchange manuals. A pile of books written by people....who never asked me for the correct answer...lol. Lots I learned here from others...you'll be a bonified guru in time with just reading posts. Even some free catalogs from parts suppliers are handy. LMC has a free one. Others too. On line links are good also. GMCPauls.com has a vin/model number decode link for GMC trucks and Chevys too.
