air compressor
I'm in the market for a new air compressors. I don't know anything about them, except that I should buy one that the main thing to look at is the SCFM delivery. Does tank size mean anything? or do i worry about how much cfm it produces?

One thing to NOT look at is the HP rating.
Ever see a real industrial 5hp motor? If you do and them see a 5hp motor on a compressor you get from Sears or Lowes you will know what I mean. First thing I would do is look at the CFM needs of any tools you might hook up now or in the future. I like to guage a compressor against a straight line body file or a good paint spray gun.....if the compressor can handle those tools (with 20% reserve) then it will probably do. |

I bought a Campbell Hausfeld 60 gal 6hp for $429 at Lowes. It handles everything I can throw at it. I have not done any sand blasting with it yet but I believe that is the true test of any compresor.

Engineered failure point I called it. A good 60 gal will do for probably 90% of individuals.

I have this light industrial compressor at home. Works great. I have not put it to a good test just yet. I will though once I start to tear up the front end.
