Tx - definitely will. He never said anything about it being an LT1 but he did say he knew for sure that it was a 5.7. The information on Roadmaster's with 5.7's reflected them to be an LT1. Does that sound right? Glad you brought it up though, I'll certainly verify before any cash changes hand.

If it is a 95 Roadmaster, it should definitely have the LT-1 motor. If you can get the whole car, then go for it. Just an FYI, wrecked/totalled 94-6 LT-1 copcars are going for $600-$1200 around here so you may want to start the offer at $500. You can yank the Motor/Trans/PCM/and some other stuff like the radiator w/dual elec. fans,ect... and PART the rest of it out. If the car has a nice front clip on it, someone will buy it, they are tough to get and go for $650 to $1000 alone. The front doors are identicle and interchange with the Cadillac Fleetwood, Chevy Impala SS, Caprice Sedan & Wagon, 91-2 Olds Custom Cruiser wagon and the Roadmaster wagon($100-$200 ea). The Auto Climate control is sought after in them too($75+). If it is a "Limited" with leather, the seats go for some bucks too($300-$600). If it has the G-80 posi, that s worth a couple hundred too.

As far as hooking it up using the original harness, the B bodies are an electrical nightmare. You would be better off getting the Painless harness for it, it's not cheap but with the money you make on the parts, it will even out. You will basically need the aftermarket harness(I think they are plug n play with 3 wires to hookup after it's connected to the motor and PCM), possibly a custom chip, an inline electric fuel pump and some new fuel line (for a return line).

The early LT-1's were the ones having problems with the opti-spark distributor(didn't have a vent). I believe they corrected the problem by 94/5. I have seen them for sale for less than $200...

All in all, it would be a great swap for your truck. It would bring it into the 21st century, give you EXCELLENT throttle response and nice gas milage. Put a T-56 6 speed behind it and you will have LOTS of fun.

If it is the LT1, you'll want to use it, as for the electrics there are several people who make stand alone harnesses for putting an LT1 in a different vehicle, as for the opti, you can eliminate it by using a coil on plug ignition (it's actually one coil for 2 plugs), you could also run a conventional distributor on it, it does require some machine work but it is possible.

iirc the 94, 95, and 96 Roadmasters all have the LT1.

It must have been the Caprices that had the little engine then. I used to work on all of them and never really paid too much attention. I did mostly heavy line work.
