Tailgate mod

I know there was a thread on changing our tailgates to the newer truck style attachments. So we won't have to unbolt it to get it off. Looking to do this, so if anyone has info that would be great..

mine was cut off at the bottom and the roll pan was butted up to make a 1/8" gap. looks cool but the gate hase to come off to get access. On the fleet sides if you look on a 73 or newer one of the hinges is flat on two sides so that you can open the gate half way and then pull it off. Shouldn't be a hard mod just cut a slot and change one hinge.

Why not just cut part of the circle out of the tailgate portion? That way you could leave the hinge portion mounted. That is the way that my 96 Z71 is.

FYI if you use a 73+ hinge and bolt it on, it has a smaller circumfrence than a 67-72. the easiest way is to just cut two sides off of the original one and weld some flat bar in, then cut a hole in the bottom of your gate
