88 + seat in a 73-87

Has any body out there put one of the 88-up seats in a 73-87.
I know they work and fit excellent in the 67-72 because I have a 88-up bench in my 72.
I have a 88-up 60/40 split bench I want to put in my wife's 80 K20 but looking at the way the floor is raised up under the seat it looks like it might be a problem.

Any ideas/pics?

I've looked at it for my 82. If I find a full bench, I'm thinking of using the80's brackets on the 88+ bench. I think that would be the quixckest easiest way without alot of fabbing, but mine is not done yet.

I'm putting a 60/40 bench seat with center console out of about a 97' Chevy into my 76' Chevy. I have the seat, I just haven't got around to putting it in. With a late model bench seat you might be able to modify your old brackets to work. With my 60/40 it is defenitely going to take some fabrication to make it work because it has more mounting locations than a bench seat.

I put a set in my 82 Blazer, but that doesn't help too much since the floor is different than what's in your truck. It can be done, just takes some fabricating.....

I had an 88-94' bench seat in my C10. I want to have it re-shaped and upholstered in black leather w/ suede inserts. Don't mind the tweed interior.....

Do you have any pictures of how you mounted yours?

Thanks

No, I don't. It is bolted to the floor using a custom seat frame that utilizes the stock floor holes.

Bench Seat

I found a 89 Burb in a local junk yard with a tan leather bench. Perfect shape, and got it for $60.00 bucks. I put it in my 79 3/4 ton GMC. The only modification I had to do was bend the rear mounting tabs up just a bit to compensate for the slight difference in the floor pan. Width wise a perfect fit. Front mount tabs...perfect fit. 30 minute job start to finish.
Good luck!

89 burb is the older body style isn't it? Like the 73-87 trucks but with a different grille?
I think they didn't change the burb's bodystyle until 91. Not sure though.

Yea, that shows the problem area. The floor on the 73-87 trucks is raised up where the seat sits. The 67-72 and 88-up trucks are flatter.
I'm thinking I'll have to use the stock 73-87 slider brackets and the fab something for the center brackets or do something like what BaggedC10 did and build a complete framework for it.

BTW, Keep the tweed Bagged, leather sucks. IMHO!

I have a 89 split bench seat in my 78. The newer seat is narrower and sits higher then the stock seat. I modified the pedestal height taking off the bottom half . I used 2" by 2" square tubing and mounted it to the floor. Its not hard to drill a new hole weld a washer to a nut and tack it to the floor underneath. Just like the factory mount.A problem the gas tank on the passenger side.On that side I welded the tubing to the floor .One could drop the tank and make it more professional. Then bolted the pedestal to the sqaure tubing. Making the seat still removable. The 89 seat is alot more comfortable then the stock one.

Do you mean it still sits higher after you modified it to fit?
Would you happen to have pics?

At least now I know it can be done at least. It'll probably be alot easier to understand once I start to do it myself.
