Great Salvage Yard Day

Well, I started my Saturday morning at the hardware store buying some bolts and things to finish a frame off 71 swb gmc for a customer and friend.

The owner of a little nasty salvage yard was in there and asked me where I have been lately. I told him I had been busy on a couple of trucks. I asked him at the last minute if he had any 67-72's in the yard. He said he had a 70-72 big block truck with a tilt. Even though I had a big day scheduled on the truck at the house, by noon on Saturday I had the tilt pulled and a deposit on the engine. It is a complete original '72 402 running with everything except the AC Brackets. I bought everything frame the core support to the transmission. I even bought some 73-75 buckets and console out of a 2wd blazer. Great day but expensive. The truck was a 72 Longhorn I think. It had a utility bed on it. They said they would sell the frame with junk cab if anybody was interested in Southeast Texas. I have the glove box with the vin# on it. I don't know if it is a c20 or c30. Let me know if anybody is interested and I will get you the information.

Thanks,
Steve

Good score

Soundsa like a great day at the treasure mine. I am looking for a pair of 72 BB frame stands. I have the cups and mounts but still need the stands. Let me know if you got them and if they are for sale.

Thanks - Bob

longhorn

The truck is in beaumont area. South East Texas. I can get all info on it that i can. It has a nice utility bed on it, if somebody needs one. They will sell without i am sure. The turbo 400 will be in it but they want 375 for it. I did not need it that bad. The truck will be crushed if somebody does not save it.

If I get a chance I'll go check it out sometime. What's the name of this yard?

Steve,
Sound's like a pretty good haul on some rare parts.
Now when you get finished with your friends/customers truck, I have a 68 you could play with.

Trucks

Hutch
Nice to here from you. I put my 68 stepside in front of this guys 71 gmc. I am down to the last few hours to get this truck out. He has a new shop and is ready for truck and i want my shop back. I have a 71bb 402 lwb cheyenne that i am going to swap motors and stash another bb. I also going to a quick engine swap on 71 longhorn and have a 72 c-20 running truck to sell. I hope these are all for sale in next 2-3 months. I also have a nice 69 swb fleet that was started before i did the frame off on the 68. I also have a 70 and 2 72 swb fleets that i will do in one way are the other. The lwb's will be sold unpainted unless someone wants them finished. I am having trouble with paint and bodymen. I just had a man that did most of my budget trucks pass away. I will do a frame off on the 69 and hope it brings $22000.00 like the 68 did in September. I am going to pick up a original 72 cheyenne 402 swb if it is as nice as he says it is to finally keep for myself.
Other than that i can see the end of the tunnel. I will keep it in mind though. I have 2 painters that i am going to try out next. I do everthing except final bodywork and paint.
