Its fun having the kids help I have a 1 1/2 year old grand daughter. You did alot of work on your truck. I like the gas filler also. Are you using a blazer tank.

It is a 31 gal. tank out of a 79 burb. As you may have noticed on the 88-99 chevy trucks the filler door is on the drivers side. I used a filler hole from a 98 and flipped it for use on the passenger side. I used a door from a 88 cause the inside was smooth meaning no bracket for hanging the gas cap. It wouldn't have worked anyway since it is upside down. Turned out real nice I thought. The pic of the truck when it was maroon was 7 years ago got painted that color before my wedding, been married 2 weeks when that was taken. The pic of the cab in primer was about a year ago and the others were in the last couple months. My little helper is 4 now and the rodstoration has been going for 6yrs. I will be driving it in the next couple weeks knock on wood. The bed isn't painted yet so I can make a show in unfinished, and the interior is only partial.

Don't worry bout the dress. It is one of them halloween princess play dress things. She like to pretend top be a princess but she IS my little princess. LOL Bobby if you nees some more of them dresses she might have one you can borrow! LOL Denny Thanks for the compliments. The gas door does look like it belongs. I didn't like it at first but it was too late it was in, but after I got the bed on the truck it flowed in well with the style of the truck. I like it now.

To mount the tank I moved the rear crossmember to the rear of the frame. Then I welded two 1/4 x 1 3/4 flat steel braces front to rear of the back two crossmembers. The tank has recessed groves stamped in so the braces lay in those. Under it I used heavy guage galvanized steel banding material for straps. Between the tank and straps and braces I used self adhesive foam tape so no holes will get rubbed in the tank from the hardware. I drilled holes in the rear crossmember and used eyebolts spread open to slip into the holes for J hooks. It was simpler than this sounds but I do better teaching with visual aids.

Here is mine. I welded up a xmember to support the front and made some straps to go across the top. Used my old floormat to cushion the top straps. Using the hitch and a piece of angle for the back. Its a 41 gal tank from an 80s burb. Its too big.
I used Ryan Millers site as a guide. Anybody know or heard from him lately?

I should explain why its too big.
I didnt know it was 41gal when I pulled it out of the burb. I measured it when I got home and thats when I found out. The tank hangs over the diff, bad, even though Ive got 8ins of clearance between them it bothers me. You can see where I massaged the tank to get it to fit. So I'll see how much it actually holds the first time I fill it up. I'm thinking of building a tank to replace this one. But thats a way later project. Keeping the cab tank till Ive worked out all the problems.
