Cab Dolly
Any one have plans or dimentions for a dolly to put the cab on, I'd like to make one so I can move the cab around, and also have it at a comfortable working height so I can get to welding on it
IIRC there was once a post with the plans (including dimentions) for a pretty slick one made of wood, with casters for moving it around, but I can't find the thread anywhere, and the search won't let me use the word cab

What I used as a dolly to move my cab around is an old farm wagon. I think it is a 5 ton International wagon. Puts the rockers about knee height. Working on the front or back doing a lot of welding could be difficult. The best part is you can move it where ever you want and are on stuck on pavement. I even towed the wagon with the cab to the body shop. Plan to use the same thing for the box when i get the cab back. The best part is with cars/trucks weight will never be a problem. We put a Farmall H on the wagon to get it painted and the wagon was the only wheels under it. Would be great if you own land but in town it may be ackward. Hope that helps.

You can make this as difficult as you want. A 2x10 box with a plywood top attached to a pair of furniture dollies would allow you to move the cab about. Or a larger set of wheels would raise the box up to a more comfortable level. I should have my homebuilt body rotisserie finish this weekend. That gives a lot of flexability for working on any area of the cab. I'll post some pictures and plans as soon as it becomes a reality.

Here is mine. My 39 cab is on it now but it should work with a 67-72 cab. 2-2x8x8, 2- 2x6x8, 4 12" sections of 4x4, casters and a bunch of lag bolts. About $50.

The simplest way I've found is to stake a number of 4'x4' pallets on top of one another (you can screw them together for stability), set your cab on top of them and then you can move them around with a pallet jack. You can usually pick up a used one pretty cheap, about $50. Then when you want to work on the cab, you just release the hydraulics on the pallet jack and the whole thing sets on the floor. Nice and sturdy with no wheel locks to mess with.

I used those plans somewhat but made a few mods.
First I made mine a bit taller to be able to get under and work more comfortably 2cond I raised the side bars up so I could fit the legs of an engine hoist under them I just used an extra block of wood as you can see in the corners Also if your gonna do it right buy the steel wheels I did the solid rubber the first time and the first time I hit a rock while rolling around it flattened the wheel

with the wood dolly you can bolt a couple of 2X8's across the top and use it for a box dolly also

I made a long cab dolly so I could rock the cab back and work on the underside as well as the top and floor. Here are some pics.

I needed one that I could roll across my pasture into the barn on uneven ground so I went with 10" rubber tire casters from Harbor Freight. Mounted them on an old frame section. Total cost about $30.
