1959 3100 tilt column
Hi all
I am new to this post want to say Hi to all and love the information I find here. Just a little about me. I spent 21 years in the US Navy, retired and now I teach 7 & 8 grades computers and Business classes. I live in North Florida I do keep honey Bee’s also. I am trying to upgrade my 3100 I would like to put a tilt column in it. I am doing a upgrade on the front suspension with a Fat Man Mustang II with disc Breaks, and power steering. If you have done this or know what column will work please let me know? |

I just finished doing this on my Apache last August...I ordered my column from Snake River Rod and Custom...they rebuild GM columns for street rod use. I thought they were pretty reasonably priced, and they've got them available with all options; tilt, telescope, keyed, not keyed, column shift or not.
Have you bought your IFS yet? I've got a bunch of pictures in progress on my year-long rebuild. Any questions, let me know.

I used a jeep tilt steering column in my 56 Chevy. I believe it was out of a mid 80's wagonner. It has the shift indicator on it with the key. It fit in nice and I got it from the wrecking yard for 25.00. kind of looks like the pre 73 truck tilt column and uses GM componets.

Hello I'm new here and I'm currently building a 1958 Chevy pickup. I wanted to let you know you can also use a early to mid 70's tilt column shift from a Chevy Van. Thats what I have its simple, cheap and looks good. Its looks close to the pic of the column above, but it does not have the ignition on the column. If you like the ignition on the dash as I do than try the van column.

I used a mid to late 60's Firebird (Camero) that had a floor shifter so there is no lever on the tilt column just the tilt lever and turn signal, planned on using a Gennie floor mount shifter for my 350 Automatic .... my 2-cents worth
