Distributor Question
I just replaced my used HEI with a brand new one. Thought it would be a simple swap - WRONG!!! I thought I lined it up the same as the old one, but it pops and spits fire thru the carb. Please settle a shop disagreement. If you are look down onto the top of the distributor is the 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2 firing order in a clockwise, or counterclockwise pattern with regard to the plug wire placement?
Yes, this do go into the hall of fame of stupid, too many beers, mechanical questions. Thanks for your help. |

18436572 and its clockwise as you look down on the top of the cap. Doesnt matter where the placement of "1" is. bring the motor up to 10 degrees advanced on # 1 TDC and line up the rotor with one of the posts on the distributor . assign that as #1 then work your way around. That'll get you in ballpark to start the thing and time it..
