2.25" Duals
Happy Friday,
It's garage time!!! woohoo. Righto so kicked over the truck today and just about lost my ears drums. ![]() So am needing to change the exhaust. It has 3" duals on it with resonator tips only running from a set of hedman headers. I'm sure it was great for the PO with the Big block & blower in it but its a bit loud n am sure way too big bore. However PO put a 78 vette pace car engine in it. I contacted dynomax they reckon a 2.25" dual system will be fine for my requirements now. Are any of you guys running a dual 2.25" system? Also will a 73 system fit,as I seem to many of these ready to fit header back kits for 73 onwards but nothing for our trucks.... ![]()

If your truck has coil springs, i doubt it. Its possible that the '73 up system would fit if you have leaves. The pipe routing gets tricky around the rearened and trailing arms.
A 2.25" system should be fine for a mild-stock 350. Personally, i've had good luck just taking my stuff to local muffler shops and having them custom make a system....it will cost more than a pre-fit system but you can get them fully welded instead of clamped and you don't have to mess with it yourself. If you want some reasonably priced mufflers with a mellow tone that isn't too loud, go with Dynomax Super Turbos...enough of a rumble to let people know you have a V8, but still plenty quiet so it dosne't get annoying.

As much as I hate LMC, look at there prebent pipes. I can't remember the size of them, but I have only heard good things about there pipes and at a good price too.

i have 2.5" pipes ran all the way back with coil springs and no routing problems at all..if this thing has a big block in it i would at least go with 2.5" if not 3" depending on how hot the motor is..

That 78 Vette 350 isn't a powerhouse no matter how you look at it. I'd definitely run 2.25 inch system. Myself, I run 2.25 on small blocks and 2.5 on big blocks.
