what gears/axles do i have?

I have a 1978 3/4 4x4 suburban ? I was wondering what gears i have? The front has 12 bolts and the rear has 14 bolts, would they be a 12 and 14 bolt corp. I also have a 1987 gmc 3/4 4x4 suburban the front axle has 10 bolts and the rear i think has 12 or 14. What axles are better. The 87 has limited slip. I don't have the stickers in the golve box either. I was wonderiing if someone could tell me what a full floater is?

If your glovebox sticker is missing, pull the covers and get the #'s off the gears,There will be a gm part# about 6-8 long then a date like 7 78 there should be a 41 10 would be a 4.10 or a #' like that on there. Just devide the small # into the big one and it will give you the ratio. Hope this helps,Erick

Hey, ihave a full floater laying around thats a 14 bolt. Sounds like this axle is worth keeping for a future build up. Would the 12 bolt on my 78 suburban be better than the front 10 bolt?
