'88 Crew Cab Dually For Sale

Looking to sell my dually. Have put alot of time and a good bit of money into it.

Body is in good shape with less than a year old paint job(except inside bed, which is still original white). Over $1,000 in new rubber within past 6 months. Edelbrock carb. & intake on what was originally a factory fuel injected 454(still have injection parts if wanted). TH400 automatic tranny. Bucket Seats in front, PW & PDL. ***AC COMPONENTS REMOVED***

Think truck has a distributor or carburater problem, which is causing poor performance, but haven't been able to figure out the problem. Also recently have been hearing a high-pitched whinning sound (kinda like the sound a starter makes when cranking or high speed gears make) usually when speed gets over 45-50 MPH.

Anyway, driving me nuts 'cause I can't figure out what the problems are and I don't really have the money to fix it even if I did, so have decided to sell it if anyones interested. IF YOU ARE, MAKE ME AN OFFER!

By the way, if anyone might happen to know what is causing the whinning sound I mentioned, let me know.

Already checked rear differential fluid, which was fine.

Am going to have transmission checked next, but tranny seems to be shifting fine, so hopeing that's not the problem.

Well, figured there would be more interest than there has been so far.

Anybody want to leave some input on maybe why that is or what else I could do?

I know mechanically it has a few problems, but body and interior are in good shape. I striped the whole interior and replaced it when i got the truck and the paint isn't PERFECT but as you can tell by picture, should satisfy most people for at least a few years( QUALITY PAINT USED, NOT A CHEAP MAACO JOB).

See other '87-'88 crew duallies going for $7,000-$10,000, so I think $5,000 for mine after all the work I've put into it isn't bad. Am I correct or is it just wishful thinking on my part?

IMO with the AC removed and with it being carbed instead of having the fuel injection would be the main things that would turn me against it. You also don't mention if you still have the AC parts and to what extent the removal is.....Good luck with your sale.

It depends on where you live. I find them for 4k all the time here. If you are looking for a quick sale then lower price the guys getting alot for theres are sitting on them for a long time. I watched 4 get relisted on ebay for weeks on end. Here in our Auto Traders I see the same trucks for months. I know here for a while it was gas prices killing the dually sales. Tough to say when the 92 and up are getting cheaper and people like that style more.

In response to the AC question, truck is missing the compressor, condenser and underhood hoses which were already missing when I purchased the truck. Dash AC controller still installed along with ductwork(except for 2 small pieces that can probably be found anywhere). Had someone offer to sell me everything to get AC running again for $150 it just wasn't high on my list of repairs at the time.

As far as price being to high, guess it depends on where you live. Around here, you would be hard pressed to find ANY CHEVY FULLSIZE TRUCKS(especially crew cab duallies like mine) that are in pretty good shape for under $5,000. Also, there are alot of people who prefer the older bodystyle over the newer, at least in this part of the country.

Also, my neighbor happens to be in the auto-transport business, so if transporting it is a factor for any of you, I MIGHT be able to get a good deal on delivery.
