power door locks

Looking at putting power door locks on my 72 GMC 1/2 ton truck, anyone use the ones offered by LMC or the ones sold by AutoLoc.

I was thinking of "fabbing" in some from an older car. I have a set of 4 from a 1975 Malibu that work good.

If by chance you wanted to go this route, I can sell 2 of them for $25. (I'll keep the other 2 for my own truck)

If you dont buy a kit, you will need the "reversing relay"changes polarity to the motors not sure if on all models. I suggest picking a car that has the switches you like and take all the components associated with it(locks,switches,rubber boots,wiring,relay).

I don't have them in my truck, but I have heard good things about autolock...thinking about a set for mine.....

I use the Hitachi ones that can be found in old Hyundai's they are also sold in the aftermarket and in my opinion are far better than most of the other aftermarket crap as they are built at oem standards. I have had a set in my truck for 10 years and they still work great.

You won't need anything like if using the type I have. Power to 1 terminal pops the plunger out, power to the other terminal pops it back in.

If I do this mod, I'll be putting in some cheap "Help" brand plastic switches. Haven't thought of dealing with wires in the door jam yet, I'm only in the planning stages.

I just put a set in from an 88 blazer a friend had them laying around worked great. I used the factory s10 bracket to mount them I just marked the holes and drilled them out. Put them on the back side of the door just under the latch.
