Pics, words, pics, words...

Can someone PLEASE explain how you make your posts go.....picture, then description, then another picture, then more description....
All I can ever get it to do is have all the description at the top, then all the pictures under that.

I know that tnblazerk5 can do it....he did it on the post about the mini-meet at Beech Bluff (luv2xlr8's house)

Thanks in advance,
ERIC

You have to "link" to a pic rather than "upload" it.Which means you have to have the pictures "hosted" somewhere on the net (not on your computer), then link to them. I think there is a FAQ on this here on the board, but if not, here's a short course on it.

type some more "Words"....then link to the pic by typing after your "link"

Then type some more words then "link" to another picture by repeating the same process...

for example the above "link" I'm referring to is "http://www.chevelles.com/showroom/Purs/jimmy.jpg"

Is this making any sense?

Oh. I don't want to link them, though. I need to upload them....in a "how-to" type of post in the FAQ section and it would be easier to describe, then show pics, then describe some more, etc...

My understanding is that you would have to create a post with a pic, then make a seperate "Reply" for each picture you want to post if you want to "upload" the pics rather than "link" to them.

Putter, unless there is a way that I'm not aware of your going to have to do a little extra work.
First go to the picture forum and create a test post to upload your pics. Then go create another new thread in FAQ, and link from your pics in the pic forum thread.
Did that make sense...

Like Purs said, when you upload, there is no way (that I am aware of) to put text between the pics like you want to do...

Oh well.....thanks guys. I will look for a place to host my pics first and maybe go that route.

One last question,,,,,if I have them hosted somewhere, do they need to be resized already (at the host site) to fit this board BEFORE I link to them?

yes. Here are some free pic hosting sites:

http://www.villagephotos.com/
http://www.snapfish.com/
http://www.freepichosting.com/
http://www.1accesshost.com/index.html

These are just the first 4 I pulled from a google search that included over 3 million hits. Be aware that some hosting sites don't allow you to link (like yahoo...)

I like photobucket.com thye automatically size to 250K max. Usually the pics are like this:

They also provide the tags and all you have to do is ctrl c and ctrl v. Click the link in my sig to see what I'm talking about.

Putter,
No you won't have to resize them if the host site allows them larger. They can be full size. For the FAQ section, if you don't upload them then they may go away if your site does or they ever put a access limit on you. I like doing the discussion, upload, then reply and repaet until the FAQ is finished. Then all the pertinent data is in one location.

I can quote the first time, by simply clicking the QUOTE button on the post itself, but never tried to type, then add another quote....

To do the second quote, I just highlited what I wanted, then edited my post. I hit the quote button (it looks like a cartoon bubble with test in it), then pasted it in the pop-up box. Then typed this.....hmmm, kinda' time consuming, huh???
